JAZZ IN JULY FESTIVAL
Jazz in July Festival is an initiative of VAMOS-Art and Thought for hosting a Jazz Festival in Vamos every July, thus putting Vamos and, by extension, Apokoronas on the map of Greek jazz festivals.
After eight years of continuous presence and after the appearances of so many important artists, we can now safely claim that Vamos and its Jazz in July Festival is the ultimate jazz destination of Crete!
The ambition of the festival is to present all the forms and trends of jazz today and to give a venue to the very important - albeit not so well-known - Greek jazz scene, by opening its horizons with invitations to artists from abroad. This has already become reality.
Jazz is a global musical expression and form of art, and as such we treat it. One could say that it is a platform on which the musicians meet to exchange ideas, feelings, knowledge and cultural backgrounds on the basis of the equal participation of all. It is also a wonderful lesson in democracy, among others! A healing music!
